Actor Aditya Pancholi offends lawyers, cop in Mumbai court
While waiting in court for the magistrate to arrive in the afternoon, Pancholi got into an argument with a sub-inspector and poked fun at lawyers.
Even as 51-year old Aditya Pancholi was brought into the holiday court at Bandra after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a pub bouncer, it seemed that Pancholi had not finished with the party yet.
While waiting in court for the magistrate to arrive in the afternoon, Pancholi got into an argument with a sub-inspector and poked fun at lawyers.
Officers of the Santacruz police said Pancholi casually passed comments on the appearances of the lawyers. Apart from commenting on the length of their hair and their height, Pancholi reportedly told one of the lawyers that many of them had come from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, seeking jobs in Mumbai.
Advocate Mohammad Yusuf, who was also a target of Pancholi’s courtroom drama, said, “Aditya Pancholi’s behaviour was totally inappropriate in court. It was against the law, the legal fraternity and the whole judiciary. He has no fear in his mind.”
Yusuf said he and his colleague Arvind Tiwari are planning legal action against Pancholi for his misdemeanour in court. “Tiwari and I will meet the president of the Bandra BAR council tomorrow and file a complaint against him,” he told HT on Sunday.
Pancholi reportedly made offensive remarks about a subinspector as well, police officers said, refusing to divulge details about him.
The court remanded Pancholi in judicial custody till March 20. Pancholi’s lawyers later applied for his bail, after which the actor was released on payment of cash bail of Rs 50,000.
Meanwhile, Pancholi’s lawyer Zamir Khan told HT, “There were allegations lodged against Pancholi and he was arrested after the Santacruz police registered an FIR against him. The court released him on Rs 50,000 probationary bail as he was remanded in judicial custody. The court heard both sides even though the police prosecutor raised objections.”
Dismissing rumours that Pancholi was ordered to surrender his phone to the police, Khan said that no such order had been passed.
