Apurva Asrani claims Kangana called Hansal a spineless director
While director Hansal Mehta chose to remain silent on the issue, Apurva Asrani spoke to Huffington Post India and bared all about the fight between the trio.
Even as Kangana Ranaut, her sister Rangoli and actor Aditya Pancholi indulge in an ugly, public war of words, film writer-editor Apurva Asrani has come forward and revealed details about the controversy around the upcoming film, Simran.
When the first poster of Simran was released, Kangana was credited as for additional story and dialogues writer and Apurva objected to the portrayal on social media platforms. While director Hansal Mehta chose to remain silent on the issue, Asrani spoke to Huffington Post India and bared all about the fight between the trio.
“The divorce angle comes from my sister. Making her Gujju is my idea. Her family drama comes from my life. Yes, Hansal named her, but her profession — he and I came up with together,” Asrani said.
He further claimed that things were not the same when Kangana suggested changes to the script. Apurva told the website that Kangana messaged him and said, “I am done with a clueless and a spineless director (Hansal). I am done with his selfish team. Skilled director left the film sighting gender bias issues, according to him he can’t handle a woman calling the shots, he was always told he’ll have to collaborate, on the other hand he encouraged me calling himself a feminist, then what happened to a feminist director?”
Directed by Hansal and written by Apurva, Kangana’s Simran is slated for a theatrical release on September 15.
