Actor Arjun Kapoor, who was a confident fat kid reveals that the food prepared by his dadi makes him forget about his diet and gorge on the sumptuous delights without a care in the world.

Actor Arjun Kapoor is an inspiration for everyone who wants to transform their bodies. The Mubarakan star, who has come a long way from being unapologetically fat as a child, to sporting an athletic physique, says there are still some days when the foodie in him takes over. “I have cheat days once in a while, but cheat meals are better. If you eat whatever you want for a full day, it takes you at least 3-4 days to get out of that rut.”

Actor and self-confessed foodie Arjun Kapoor reveals what makes him cheat on his strict fitness regime.

The actor loves gorging on pancakes and waffles when he’s in a good mood, but what makes Arjun properly cheat on his otherwise strict diet? “I save my [quota of] cheat meals for the food I have at my dadi’s (paternal grandmother, Nirmal Kapoor’s) home. That’s the kind of food I can’t resist! Cheating karni hai toh ghar ke khaane se karo, jo pyaar mein bana hua ha (if you want to cheat, do it with eating home-cooked food that’s prepared with love).”

His face lights up when you ask what meals prepared by his dadi are like. “Jungli mutton, laal maas (red meat), kaali dal, sometimes rajma, pyaaz wale chawal (onion rice) and dahi wala chicken (chicken with curd). I don’t like seafood, so she never prepares that. Itna hi kaafi hai, insaan behosh ho jaaye khaake! (This much food is enough to make anyone faint)” laughs Arjun.

Arjun, who grappled with excess weight as a child, reveals that it never actually bothered him. “I was never apologetic (about my weight). That’s how I approached life. I was okay with it. But later, I realised that life could be better if I lost weight, so I did it for myself.” Was he often made fun of for? “Even the fittest person in the world will be trolled. There is negativity 24X7,” says Arjun, who will be seen next in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar with Parineeti Chopra.
