The action-thriller opened to mixed reviews, but the impressive cast failed to impress the audiences. After making a disappointing opening day collection of Rs 5.57 crore, the earnings saw slight rise on Saturday and Sunday with Rs 7.16 crore and Rs 8.24 crore respectively. However, a total of Rs 21.01 crore over the first weekend is a dismal figure, considering the film was made at an estimated budget of Rs 35 crore. Wazir might break even as there are no big Bollywood releases till January 22 (when Akshay Kumar’s Airlift hits theatres).

The Bejoy Nambiar-directed film collected Rs 10.48 crore on overseas ticket windows. Wazir traces the story of a cop (Farhan) and a disabled man (Amitabh) who come together in search of solace from similar losses. Aditi Rao Hydari, Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham also feature in the movie. The film uses chess metaphors to talk about life.
