'Dia and I need a break from each other'

After sharing screen space with good friend and business partner Dia Mirza in their first production venture, Love Breakups Zindagi, actor Zayed Khan feels he needs a break before working with her again.

When asked whether he will co-star Dia in the next production too, he jokingly said, “No way... we need a break from each other.”
The 31-year-old has his hands full, both personally and professionally. Reason: His debut production is scheduled to release next month. Also, Zayed and wife Malaika Khan are expecting their second child in October.

On his film, Love Breakups Zindagi
It is a very feel good film that revolves around contemporary relationships. It is very close to Dia’s (Mirza) and my heart. In fact, it is just like our baby.

On his character
I play the character of Jai, an executive who is facing a mid-life crisis. He is unsure of many things including whether he is in love or not.

On taking a break
My sabbatical was intentional. I wanted time to introspect my career and how do I see it going. Also setting the production house took a lot of time.

On bonding with Dia Mirza
I have known Dia for ages. We did have creative differences while we were working on this film, but we both are sounding boards for each other.

On fatherhood for second time
My three-year-old son Zidaan has brought so much happiness in my life. With the second child, I hope that this great journey
continues.

On upcoming projects
After Priyadarshan’s Tezz, I have Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene. My next production will be an actionfilm.
