Actor Ishita Raj Sharma, who was seen in Sonu ke Titu Ki Sweety, says that she would rather be known for lesser work but good work and that’s why she didn’t want to get associated with a film where she would not have been happy with the work she did.

Asked why she has done only three films in a span of seven years, the actor says, “I know I’ve been lacking behind and I’m already too late for a lot of things. You see, I was not an industry kid and coming from Delhi, maybe I was destined to be a part of films. After PKP did well, I moved to Mumbai. At that time, maybe I was not getting the right scripts or maybe I wasn’t ready to settle for anything less. So, when PKP 2 was offered, I felt being a part of a hit film sequel is no harm.”

The actor is quick to add that it’s not like she wasn’t getting offers all this while. “A lot of films came my way but I didn’t want to get associated with a film where I would not have been happy with the work I did. I wanted to be confident about the script. I would rather be known for lesser work but good work,” maintains the actor, who co-starred with Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Singh and Nushrat Barucha in the film.

But even in these three films, Ishita was seen portraying similar characters. What is holding her back from exploring other genres? “That’s because I worked with the same director in these films. When I’d work with other people, of course I’d do different characters. I don’t have a godfather or any backing and, so I know I have to prove a lot. As an actor, my job is to play different roles, styles and people onscreen. I want to channel my talent and tap into that field where I can play a very sweet naive girl to a village girl to a vamp. I want people to say that this girl has guts to adapt into any character,” says Ishita.

Having got the push she needed, asked how she is ensuring that more work comes her way, Ishita says, “Now that people have noticed and appreciated me, I’m being more rigorous. SKTKS has helped me look good and exposed me in a different light. I’ve been getting calls, reading scripts and meeting the right people. Let’s hope that soon I will get something good.”
