Magadheera on track, confirms Kashyap
Co-producer Anurag Kashyap confirms the historical romantic drama will roll this year.
Phantom, the production company formed by filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Behl and Vikramaditya Motwane, has bought the rights of Telegu blockbuster Magadheera (2009), and they are set to start shooting for the film before their debut project Lootera, starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, hits the theatres.
“The Hindi script is ready. Abbas Tyrewala has written it and we will start shooting in the last quarter of the year, before Lootera hits the theatres,” says Anurag.
It was rumoured that Ranbir Kapoor was to play the lead role in the film. But now, the production house has signed Ranveer for the character originally played by south actor Ram Charan Teja in the SS Rajamouli-directed historical romantic drama.
Reportedly, Delhi Belly (2011) director, Abhinay Deo was approached to direct the film, but he turned it down saying he was not mentally prepared to work on such a huge project.
Ask Kashyap, if he has roped in anyone else for the project and he says, “No, we haven’t decided who will direct the film.” The female lead actor is also yet to be finalised.
