Sairat actor Akash Thosar says he is looking forward to watching Dhadak, the remake of his debut film Sairat. He also talks about how Dibakar Banerjee has asked him to pick and choose his next Bollywood film.

Since the release of Lust Stories, actor Akash Thosar has no dearth of offers from Bollywood. But it was his portrayal of Prashant Kale — a low-caste young man — in the Marathi film, Sairat that gave him recognition in showbiz. And now, when the critically acclaimed film is being remade in Bollywood as Dhadak, with actors Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, Akash says, “I loved the trailer and I’m looking forward to the film as well.”

The 24-year-old actor had no ambition to star in the remake of the film. “I’ve done my part in Sairat and people are still talking about it. That’s more than enough for me. I’m happy for both Janhvi and Ishaan. I’m sure they will do well.”

About his latest project, Lust Stories, Akash says that he is indebted to Anurag Kashyap for giving him the opportunity.“I had loved Bombay Talkies (2013) and the Gangs of Wasseypur series and had a wish to work with Anurag Kashyap. So, when he told me that he liked Sairat (2016), I couldn’t believe my ears. . And when he offered me a chance to work with him, I was like, ‘Aapko kaun na bolega, aapke saath mujhe kaam karna hain’. It was also great to work with Radhia Apte. First day on the set I was scared about making mistakes but she made sure that I don’t make mistakes under pressure. She was friendly and told me, ‘tu tension mat le, bindas hoke perform kar’,” says Akash, who got praise from filmmakers like Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee and Zoya Akhtar for his acting.

“During the after party, I met Dibakar Banerjee. He was very kind with his praises. Smiling at me, he said, ‘Bahut achha actor hain… thoda wait karo, aur achha kaam milega. Bus ek aur achha kaam karna hain tumhe’,” says the 24 year-old actor.
