You get along with your contemporaries, but are you all competitive when it comes to work?

There is competition, but it is friendly. Everyone wants to do better than what they have done before. The same applies to me as well. I want to do better with each film. I want to keep outdoing myself.

How do you handle success?

Success can be overwhelming. But, what keeps me grounded is the fact that I started out with two films that didn’t do well. Also, my family’s constant support through the good and tough times is a blessing. My family is my biggest strength.

The roles that you do are relatable. Is that an advantage when it comes to making a connection with the audience?

The fact that people have been watching my films suggests that I share a special connection with the audience. That’s something I cherish the most. I love being loved by them. That bond will always remain special. What you feel when people whistle and cheer for you while watching a film in the theatre is inexplicable.

You have done diverse roles so far. Is it a conscious decision to do a variety of parts?

I have been trying to do different kinds of films that cater to different kinds of audiences. Honestly, I do projects that people are likely to enjoy. Also, while choosing a movie, I think, “Will I go to watch this one in the theatre, and will I enjoy it?”
