Sometimes, you don’t need wings to fly. Sometimes, the saree-clad ’aunty’ next door can be the woman of your dreams. Sometimes, naughty is a state of mind. Vidya Balan, the actor you simply cannot put in a safe bracket, is back with her next film, Tumhari Sulu. If the posters of the film were not intriguing enough, we now get the teaser and our curiosity levels are spiking.
In Tumhari Sulu teaser, we meet Vidya Balan in a gym. Now, this can be anywhere. But there is shock on the faces of the good middle-class people thronging this particular temple dedicated to abs, midriffs and biceps. The reason: a bindi wearing, saree clad Vidya Balan is at her naughty best on phone, talking about “dil ke button” and “jaagti raatein”. Well, here is what she says exactly: “Hello! Aapki raaton ko jagane, aapke sapnon ko sajaane, Mai, Sulu. Dil ke button se phone lagaiye aur mere se baat kariye. Karenge na?”
For those who came in late, Vidya plays Sulu - a late night RJ whose sexy show is quite the rage. In fact, when a guy asks her during the show “thoda aur sexy ho sakta hai”, her laugh-inducing answer is “Nahi, itna mast hai!”
Directed by ad filmmaker Suresh Triveni, Tumhari Sulu also stars Manav Kaul, Neha Dhupia and RJ Malishka in supporting roles. It is the story of a radio jockey (Vidya). She earlier played a radio jockey in Sanjay Dutt-starrer Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006). Vidya has also learned hip-hop dance for a few scenes in the film.
Talking about her role, the actor earlier said, “Tumhari Sulu is a fun film. Sulu is a late night RJ and it will unleash the naughty side of me.”
It is a slice-of-life film produced by Bhushan Kumar, Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar and Shanti Sivaram. The film hits theatres on December 1.
