UTV to sign Imran Khan again?
Since all their earlier ventures with Imran (I Hate Luv Storys in 2010 and Delhi Belly in 2011) have been successful at the box office, and his forthcoming rom-com with Kareena Kapoor, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (EMAET) is garnering all the right attention, UTV is planning to sign him for another love story.
Imran Khan seems to have become a safe bet for UTV Motion Pictures.
“Imran Khan’s movies do relatively good business. This could be why UTV is already contemplating signing him on for their next,” reveals the insider. Also, Break Ke Baad (2010) director Danish Aslam will apparently helm the romantic movie. Ask Danish if he has been approached by UTV, and he says, “I am making a film with UTV and I am writing the script currently. It’s a love story, but beyond that I really can’t say anything.”
The insider further reveals that EMAET, co-produced by Dharma Productions, has already been sold to distributors of territories who generally do not pick up such movies. “The report for the movie is so hot that even markets like Rajasthan, central provinces, Assam and Orissa are sold out. These markets are not too keen to buy movies with relatively fresh faces as the risk factor is high,” reveals the insider. EMAET is set to hit theatres on February 10.
