Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan releases second book in The Trials of Apollo series
The Dark Prophecy takes off from where the first book, The Hidden Oracle, ended. Apollo – banished to earth in the form of a 16-year-old boy – continues his quest to restore the Oracles that have gone dark and regain his immortality.
The much-awaited second book in American author Rick Riordan’s Trials of Apollo series – The Dark Prophecy – is now out.
The Dark Prophecy takes off from where the first book, The Hidden Oracle, ended. Apollo – banished by his father Zeus to modern-day New York City in the form of a 16-year-old teenager – continues his search to restore the Oracles that have gone dark and regain his immortality. As the four-thousand-year-old god gets used to the 21st century while outwitting his numerous enemies, he makes new friends on his quest to regain his immortality and Mount Olympus.
The first book, The Hidden Oracle, was released in May 2016.
A schoolteacher before he turned to writing full-time, Rick Riordan is best known for his hugely popular Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. In this fantasy-adventure series, 12-year-old Percy Jackson discovers that he is a demigod and the son of Greek god Poseidon. In the first book in the series, Lightening Thief (2005), Percy and his friends must solve the mystery behind the disappearance of Zeus’s thunderbolt and prevent a war between Poseidon, Zeus and Hades.
The series originated with Riordan making up stories for his son, Haley, who like Percy in the books, has ADHD and dyslexia. Lightening Thief won the Red House Children’s Book Award in 2006, and sold over 1.2 million copies. The first two books have been adapted into movies.
