You run a blog called Fancy Correctitude, can you explain to us how you came up with the name and what the blog is all about?

I studied Fashion from the top fashion school in India, NIFT and Fashion has always been my passion. I started Fancy Correctitude 5 years ago and it is about fashion intersecting with our every-day lives. Creating beautiful visuals that connect with people, art, culture, and fashion is everything to me. I direct and style every shoot, create every concept, and scout all the locations. Fancy Correctitude embodies who I am, but most importantly who we are and who we can be: people who are unafraid to stand out. When we decide what we want to wear we are adding definition into our lives, it’s showcasing who we are.

You are second-generation Indian-American, what challenges, if any, have you overcome while living here in America and being of Indian descent?

As a second-generation Indian-American, I was fortunate to grow up in India and move to America 10 years back. I have experienced different cultures, rich and worldly. I am proud of where I come from and how I was able to merge two different cultures. I feel that my differences make me who I am. Someone unique with different layers and an understanding of where and how different cultures intersect.

Congrats on working with luxury brands in America & around the world, how would you describe your personal style?

Thank you! My personal style is a calculated blend between street fashion, vintage, and high fashion. I love nothing more than mixing high and low pieces and creating looks that revolve around balance.

What is the most important piece of advice you would like to share?

My most important word of advice that I’d like to impart on others is to stay absolutely true to yourself. Play by your own rules and don’t do anything unless it brings you bliss. Everything I have accomplished so far is by staying true to my roots. Keep striving towards your goals and you will 100% get there.

What is your beauty routine?

My routine involves a simple 5 step process that starts with a cleanser, followed by toner, serum, moisturizer, and SPF. I’ll then apply foundation or tinted moisturizer depending on where I’m headed along with a good concealer. I also always define my brows and then finish off with some powder, blush, bronzer, and matte lip color. My must-have products are Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40, Model Off Duty Beauty Youth Glow Serum, Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Lip Balm, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid Lipstick, and Hourglass Veil Setting Powder.

Social media plays a huge role in marketing a brand, how has social media helped you with Fancy Correctitude? What are some positives and negatives with branding and social media?

Social media can be both a useful tool and a complicated dilemma. It has negatives and positives for sure. If it weren’t for social media, most of us wouldn’t be even close to where we are now. Just the ability to connect with all sorts of people is something we really take for granted. I think social media has made it easier to transcend in the fashion industry, or as an entrepreneur in general. It gives us a chance to get our ideas on the map. When it comes to socials, YOU are your own brand; how you market yourself is how you’ll be seen by people and also by companies.

Top three places to shop…

Net-a-porter, Nordstrom, & Harrods.

When do you feel most beautiful?

I feel most beautiful when I’m makeup-free and in a cool look. Nothing can stop me.

Who are you obsessed with on Instagram?

Eva Chen, she manages her work life and family life really well. She also has a great dressing sense.

One fashion trend you can’t live without…

As much as I love heels, sneakers are my go-to staple; I can style them with everything from blazer to a chic dress. A cool pair of kicks is a necessity.
