Sensex closes 200 points lower

The BSE benchmark index Sensex today declined by almost 185 points in early trade, as funds and retail investors booked profits after recent gains amid weakening trend on other Asian bourses.
A benchmark index for Indian markets Thursday closed 200 points down with realty, capital goods and banking stocks under selling pressure.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,714.62 points, closed at 17,552.3 points (provisional), 200.38 points or 1.13 percent down from its previous close at 17,752.68 points.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also ended lower at 5,327.25 points, down 57.95 points or 1.08 percent from its previous close.
Broader markets were also in the red, with the BSE 500 index closing 0.71 percent lower. The BSE midcap closed 0.72 percent down, while the BSE small cap indices ended 0.41 percent lower.
