Sensex up 75 points in early trade
The stock market continued its upward trend on Friday with the benchmark BSE Sensex rising by another 75 points in early trading.
The stock market continued its upward trend on Friday with the benchmark BSE Sensex rising by another 75 points to quote over 13,000-level in early trading on the back of buying by funds and retail investors.
The 30-share index on the Bombay Stock Exchange, which had gained 95 points in the previous session, was up by 75.33 points at 13,054.99 within minutes of opening of the session.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stocks Exchange Nifty was up by 22.50 points at 3,820.60.
Stock brokers said beginning of April contract in the derivate segment (futures and Options) and pick up in buying by foreign as well as domestic funds pushed the Sensex higher.
Major gainers were Reliance Industries, Reliance Capital, Reliance Communication, State Bank of India, Infosys Technologies, Wipro, Satyam Computer, Bajaj Auto, Grasim Industries, ACC and Gujarat Ambuja Cement sector stocks.
