Vinay Nagpal elected as new ICCC President
Vinay Nagpal, a senior Development Manager at the IBM Software Laboratory, has been nominated as the new President of the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC).
Vinay Nagpal, a senior Development Manager at the IBM Software Laboratory, has been nominated as the new President of the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC).
Nagpal has succeeded Asha Luthra as the 24th President of the ICCC, one of the oldest bilateral organisation established in 1977 with a coast to coast to presence, during its annual general meeting held on Tuesday.
"I feel honoured to lead such a venerated organisation," he said after being nominated for two-year term as President.
"My focus will be to build upon the foundations of growth the previous boards have given to the Chamber. The ICCC would continue to play a pivotal role in developing Canada-India bilateral ties," Nagpal said.
He emphasised that he would work to achieve the USD 15 billion per annum bilateral trade target between India and Canada that the Prime Ministers of both the countries have set.
Nagpal was the vice-president of the ICCC and had held a number of leadership positions. Till recently he was the president of the IBM South Asian Diversity Group.
He graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a B Sc and M Sc in Computer Science.
As an avid sportsman, Nagpal had founded two fund raising teams for a variety of charities. He had cycled from Toronto to St John's NF for Cancer Research.
Apart from Nagpal, the others who were elected as the board of directors include Harjit Kalsi, chief financial officer of Skylink Group of Companies; Jim Sahdra, corporate /commercial and securities lawyer; Kundan Joshi, founder and managing director of Joshi Inc. and Virtuoso Designs; Satish Thakkar, president of Excelsior Financial Group.
