Talking to mediapersons, BJP general secretary and former health minister Rajeev Bindal said the government should reconsider its decision as lotteries were suspended in Himachal in 2000 by then ruling BJP government to safeguard interests of the state's people.

“The government should realise that reintroduction would certainly spoil the lives of numerous people as it is an addiction and a dreaded social evil. Instead of imposing a blanket ban, the decision to relaunch it should be withdrawn,” said Bindal.

He said the government should first justify why lotteries should be restarted, highlight the objectives behind it, how much would be spent on it from the state exchequer and who will benefit from it.

Turning to the BJP's recent landslide victories in Haryana and Maharashtra, he said it had proved that the people had supported and accepted the Narendra Modi's style of government at the Centre.

Bindal also said that the party will launch a massive membership drive in Himachal from January 1.
