The civil secretariat of the Chandigarh union territory was evacuated on Wednesday following a bomb scare.

Ram Gopal, station house officer of Sector 3 police station, told IANS that the union territory adviser's office in Sector 9 in Chandigarh received a phone call around noon Wednesday, saying that there was a bomb in the building.

Adviser Pradeep Mehra was in his office when the call was received.
After receiving the phone call, the police immediately evacuated the building and started a search.
The origin of the phone call is yet to be traced.
The secretariat is located close to the headquarters of the Chandigarh Punjab police forces.
