Fatehgarh Sahib MP ‘bought over’ by Badals: AAP leader
Himmat Singh Shergill, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Anandpur Sahib candidate for the 2014 parliamentary elections, on Wednesday alleged that Harinder Singh Khalsa, the party’s Fatehgarh Sahib member of Parliament (MP), had been “bought over” by the ruling Badal family in Punjab.
“The Badal family is going all out to sabotage the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab. The Shiromani Akali Dal fears the success of the AAP in the 2017 assembly elections,” Shergill said at a press conference in Chandigarh.
Asked if he had taken his party leaders into confidence before making such allegations against the party’s MP, he said that he would inform them. “What I have said is my independent opinion.”
Shergill’s allegation comes close on the heels of the expulsion of the party’s disciplinary committee chief Dr Daljit Singh, who was also the AAP candidate from Amritsar for the parliamentary elections.
On his part, Khalsa along with Patiala AAP MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi had slammed party convener Arvind Kejriwal for his “dictatorial” way of running the party last week.
