"I have been time and again reiterating that nowhere in the civilised and democratic world anybody is made to stay behind bars after completion of his sentence," he said.

The former CM pointed out that even the Supreme Court had clarified that states could take a call on such prisoners. He expressed surprise as to why chief minister Parkash Singh Badal was delaying and complicating the matters.

"There is a design in the delay on the part of Badal as in his characteristic way, he was pushing the situation to a boil for petty parochial and partisan gains," Amarinder said warning Badal not to complicate simple situations for small gains.
