Sector 36 station house officer (SHO) Ram Dayal Singh said they had recovered all gold items that the accused had stolen from three complainants.

He said raids were on at various places in Delhi to arrest Gagandeep's accomplice and brother-in-law Raja and to recover other stolen documents and articles. While Raja is a Delhi resident, Gagandeep hails from Ludhiana.

The duo used to operate separately and targeted different buses to prevent identification, said the police.

The police have Gagandeep in their remand for five days to recover the remaining stolen goods.

Sources said the police procured closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage from different places where luxury buses generally halt, including Haryana tourism department's resorts at Karnal and Ambala. From the footage, the police zeroed in on Gagandeep and then arrested him. During investigations, the police came to know that Gagandeep had already been sentenced to a five-year jail term by a Kurkushetra court in a similar case, wherein he had drugged a passenger who later died.
