Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Tuesday said the state government was considering regularising the employees, who were given ad hoc appointments in several departments.
He was addressing a state-level meeting of panchayat technical assistants in Dharamsala. “Steps will be taken to regularise those, who have completed six to eight years of service,” said the chief minister.
Blaming the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of starting the tradition of making appointments on ad hoc bases, Singh said the present state government would set a time limit for the regularisation.
He said the panchayat takniki sahayaks were contributing a lot towards the development of the state by successful execution of various projects.
The chief minister assured them that the government would consider their demands and the decision to this effect would be taken soon, which would not only benefit them, but all others, who were working on ad hoc basis in other departments.
Earlier, Bhuvnesh Kumar Sharma, president of the union apprised the chief minister of their demands.
He said presently there were as many as 1,200 panchayat sahayaks in the state, out of which, 840 were rendering their continuous service for the last twelve years and the rest were engaged for the last five years in the department.
The union demanded regularisation of those, who had completed the required time period in the service. Besides, the union also requested the chief minister to make newly appointed technical assistants as daily wagers. It also demanded that the practice of commission on works basis should be stopped.
