Farmers were taken to police lines and in the evening, they started moving towards the National Highway no-1 and blocked the traffic at about 4.38 pm. Raising slogans, farmers soon blocked roads leading to Saharanpur and Kurukshetra by squatting and parking their tractors in the middle of the roads.

Sensing trouble, the district administration had deployed heavy posse of police and they too, were caught unawares at the sudden movement of farmers from the police lines. The deputy commissioner Mandeep Brar and superintendent of police Parul Kush Jain reached the spot and invited the senior BKU leaders including BKU national spokesman Rakesh Tikait, Gurnam Singh and Ajmer Singh Lakhowal, BKU presidents respectively, from Haryana and Punjab to the PWD Rest house for talks.

Till the time of filing the report, the administration had failed to pursue the farers leaders to lift the blockade.
