In Kalanwali (SC) segment, Shiromani Akali Dal and Indian National Lok Dal candidate Balkaur Singh defeated Sheeshpal Keharwala of the Congress by 12,965 votes.

In Rania, where former senior Congress leader Jagdish Nehra, who later joined the BJP and got the saffron party ticket, Congress heavyweight Ranjeet Singh, INLD newcomer Ram Chander Kamboj and Gopal Kanda’s younger brother and HLP leader Gobind Kanda were in fray, the outcome seemed to be unpredictable to political pundits. However, people of Rania again voted in the favour of the INLD as Ram Chander Kamboj defeated Gobind Kanda with a margin of 4,315 votes.

In Fatehabad, INLD candidate Balwan Singh Daulatpuriya defeated Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) candidate Dura Ram by a margin of 3,505 votes.

In Ratia (SC) segment, INLD’s Ravinder Baliala defeated BJP’s Sunita Duggal by 453 votes. In Narwana (SC), INLD’s Pirthi Singh defeated BJP’s Santosh Rani by 63,014 votes.

After the declaration of results, INLD leader Abhay Chautala told mediapersons that the INLD will support the good decisions of the BJP and will work to develop Sirsa. “People of Sirsa have shown faith in us and we will value their trust.”

He added that the Dera Sacha Sauda is a religious sect and it must focus on spirituality not politics. Admitting that there was the Modi wave in the state, which changed the mood of the people, Abhay said, “It was clear that the people were completely fed up with the Congress’ anti-people policies and they wanted a change.”
