People will vote for BSP in Haryana: Arvind Sharma

Bahujan Samaj Party's chief ministerial candidate and former Karnal MP Arvind Sharma on Wednesday said people would vote for their party in the forthcoming assembly elections since the electorate in the state had tried all other parties in the last 50 years.

Speaking at the party's zonal-level workers' meeting at Gandhi Grounds, Sharma said the assembly elections results would surprise many as the Dalit-Brahmin unity would change the political equations in the state.

He said all political parties had used Dalits and those belonging to the Backward Classes for political gain and discarded them after coming to power.

Now, the very strata of the society have realised their potential and would vote for the party which had always championed their cause, he added.

He called upon the workers to teach a lesson to the Congress government, in whose 10-year rule atrocities were committed against the Dalits and weaker sections.

Sharma said the party would field maximum candidates belonging to the Dalit community and Backward Classes.

Rajya Sabha MP Raja Ram, deputy speaker in the state assembly, Akram Khan, and party's Cantonment assembly segment ticket aspirant Mehak Khanna also spoke on the occasion.

During the rally, former union minister and Rajya Sabha member Kumari Selja's OSD RS Punia also joined the BSP after quitting the Congress
