Station house officer NPS Lehal said following a tip-off, we laid a check post and nabbed both the accused with the help of a complainant. The complainant identified both the accused before arrest. Lehal added that the police had started keeping tabs on them from the registration number of their vehicle.

Lehal also added that during the arrest, cops also recovered the weapon which was used in the crime.

The incident took place on October 4, just 100 metres away from a police station, when four to five drunk youths fired five gun shots following a quarrel over a petty issue outside a dhaba located in the residential area of Phase 11. The youths, however fled the spot after firing shots, but the victim noted the registration number of the car used by the youths.

The victim Narinder Brar (34), who lives next to the dhaba was passing by, when he asked the offenders to not use abusive language in public because there were women and children sitting around.

One of the youths then went back to the car and fired five shots at Brar. Luckily, Brar was pulled down by his brother.
