Amritsar turned out to be the hottest place in the region with maximum temperature touching 43.6 degrees Celcius mark, according to Met office here.
Among other places in Punjab, the maximum temperature in Ludhiana and Patiala were recorded at 42.4 degrees and 41.4 degrees, respectively, up by up to two degrees above normal.
In Haryana, Ambala, Bhwani and Hisar registered the day temperature at 41.4 degrees, 42.4 degrees and 43 degrees, respectively.
Narnaul was hot at 43.5 degrees, up by two notches above normal while Rohtak and Karnal saw mercury settling at 43 degrees and 41.6 degrees, respectively.
However, temperature remained below 40 degree mark in Chandigarh as maximum was recored at 39.8 degrees C.
