Ranveer registers hard-fought win: billiards & snooker championship

Ranvir Duggal endured a late challenge from KS Nalwa and defeated his opponent in thrilling five frames in the snooker category of the billiards and snooker championship being held at Chandigarh Club in Sector 1, on Friday. Ranvir started off well and easily took the first frame 52-37. He carried forward his top form into the second frame and won 64-14 to take a 2-0 lead.

However, Nalwa made a superb comeback and won the third frame 49-44. Bolstered with the win, Nalwa came up with an improved performance to win the fourth frame 50-24.

With the match evenly poised and pressure building on both the players, it was Ranvir who shone under pressure and registered a hard-fought 62-51 to win the fifth frame and the match also.

Meanwhile, Aman Bhasin completely outplayed Ankit Sharma 2-0 (67-7, 72-18) and Amar Meet Singh also came up with a stellar display to outclass Harkirat Sethi 2-0 (62-35, 64-38).

In the billiards section also, Amar maintained his winning run, defeating Ajay Singla 2-0 (75-39, 75-63). Rajat Khaneja beat Jaspal Singh 2-0 (76-24, 76-42) while Aman Bhasin got the better of Anil Kumar 2-0 (75-66, 77-19).
