Haryana to give cash award to players finishing fourth at Commonwealth Games
Haryana will give cash award of ₹15 lakh each to sportspersons who finished fourth at Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG), minister of state for sports, Sandeep Singh told the assembly on Tuesday.

The minister said an equal amount of hard work is put in by the players who finish fourth in any competition. Thus, acknowledging the same the state government has decided to give a cash reward of ₹15 lakh to such athletes. The state government is already giving cash rewards to players bagging gold, silver, and bronze and those who participate at the national and international level, he said. The assembly on Tuesday applauded sportspersons from the state for their excellent performance in the Birmingham CWG.
Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that India won a total of 61 medals, including 22 gold, at the CWG and nine gold medals have been won by Haryana players. The CM was speaking on the proposal tabled by Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda to felicitate the players of the state during the second day of the ongoing monsoon session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, Leader of the Opposition BS Hooda and all the MLAs applauded the players for bringing laurels to the state and the country.
