Delhi weather today: Delhi’s air quality was in the satisfactory category on Tuesday morning. Data from Central Pollution Control Board showed that the hourly AQI at 7am stood at 97

Delhi is likely to see thunderstorm accompanied by light rain or drizzle on Tuesday, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast. IMD officials said that parts of the city are expected to receive light, patchy rain which might bring down the temperature by 1-2°C though it will increase the humidity levels.

In a fresh forecast on Monday, IMD experts said it might take a few more days before monsoon finally hits the national Capital in its progress, which was ahead of its typical schedule.

Kuldeep Srivastava, head of IMD’s regional weather forecasting centre, said that as opposed to the earlier forecast, which predicted rain from Tuesday, rainfall activity is yet to intensify in western UP. “We have received rain in eastern UP, but it is yet to cover western UP. This might delay the monsoon by a few days in Delhi. We are not committing on a date yet, but we are observing the progress,” Srivastava said.

The minimum temperature on Tuesday is likely to be 26°C while the maximum temperature is predicted to hover around 36°C. The minimum temperature on Monday was 25.5°C and the maximum temperature was 38.6°C.

Delhi’s air quality was in the satisfactory category on Tuesday morning. Data from Central Pollution Control Board showed that the hourly air quality index (AQI) at 7am stood at 97. On Monday, the average 24-hour AQI stood at 124 in the moderate category. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.

According to the early air quality warning system for Delhi-NCR, the air quality is likely to remain in the satisfactory category on Wednesday as well. Subsequently, it is likely to remain in the moderate to satisfactory category over the next five days.

On Monday, the Union ministry of earth science’s air quality monitoring centre, System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (Safar) said, “The overall Delhi air quality is in the lower end of the moderate category. The wind speed is forecasted to stay high for the next three days and isolated rainfall is likely in Delhi on Tuesday. AQI is likely to stay in the moderate to the satisfactory category for the next three days.”
