Employment generation: Mohali administration gets award from Captain
Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday awarded the Mohali administration for generating more employment for youths as compared to other districts of the state. On behalf of Mohali deputy commissioner (DC) Girish Dayalan, district employment officer Harpreet Kaur Brar and district bureau of employment and enterprise deputy CEO Manjesh Kumar received the award from the CM at a function held in Rupnagar’s Chamkaur Sahib.

At least 13,300 youths from the district were selected by renowned companies, while 3,808 were identified for self-employment during the recently held mega job fairs under government’s ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’ and ‘Karobar Mission’.
DC Girish Dayalan said seven mega job fairs were organised in the district between September 20 and 30, wherein 21,977 candidates took part. Of them, 13,300 candidates were selected and 441 shortlisted by the representatives of multinational and national companies whereas 3,808 were identified for self employment and 520 to impart skill-based training.
Additional deputy commissioner (general) and district bureau of employment and enterprise CEO Sakshi Sawhney said due to the efforts made by the Punjab government and district administration, leading companies such as Amazon, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Bank and Mahindra and Mahindra came to these fairs and gave youngsters jobs of their choice.
