Atiq’s properties worth ₹123.28 cr attached
One of the attached pieces of lands is 1.8260 hectares, estimated to be worth ₹76.16 crores while another piece of land is 1.1300 hectares estimated to be around ₹47.12 crores. Both are at prime location in Havelia.
PRAYAGRAJ: In one of the biggest actions against Mafiosi-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his gang, Prayagaraj police on Wednesday attached his properties worth ₹123.28 crores in Havelia area of Jhunsi in trans-Ganga area. The properties, in the name of Atiq’s father Mohd Feroz and kin Mohd Usman, were purchased through illegal earned money and were attached under Gangster Act, police officials said. Until now, police and PDA have attached properties of Atiq and his kin worth ₹31.5 crores in Prayagaraj, Lucknow and Kaushambi districts.
SP City Santosh Kumar Meena said 13 bighas of land in Havelia area of Jhunsi had been attached under section 14(1) of Gangster Act lodged at Dhumanganj police station. The properties were identified and action was taken after approval of the district magistrate. “This is one of the biggest actions against IS-27 gang’s kingpin and history sheeter Atiq Ahmad till now and more properties are being identified in Prayagraj and other places,” he added.
Police teams of Dhumanganj, Puramufti, Jhunsi, Kydganj and Georgetown under SP City santosh Kumar Meena and administrative officials reached Havelia and put up boards of attachment order. The officials warned against any trespassing on the attached. Atiq Ahmad has 100 cases lodged against him at different police stations of Prayagraj and Lucknow for serious offences, including murder, attempt to murder, abduction, extortion, issuing threats, fraud, conspiracy and land grabbing as well as cases under Arms Act, Gangster Act, CLA Act etc.
In the first phase of action against Atiq in August 2018, PDA and Prayagaraj police demolished constructions on illegal plotting at Alina City, Ahmad City, Sai Vihar, Saidpur Awas Yojna, Lakhanpur Awas Yojna etc. Now police will seek details of these properties from revenue department and will attach them under Gangster Act. Moreover, lands of Atiq, his kin and associates on which constructions were razed by PDA will also be attached by police.
Besides, Prayagraj police have also attached two properties of Atiq in Lucknow. Police are also carrying out verification of two properties of Atiq in Noida and Delhi which will also be attached under Gangster Act.
