Motorman prevents teen’s suicide at Vashi station
As per the railway officials, the motorman not only just saved the woman but also counselled her along with other woman commuters.
Vashi: An alert on-duty motorman at Vashi railway station, on Tuesday, saved an 18-year-old woman who tried to die by suicide.
Prashant Konnur, 54, who was heading from Vashi railway station to CSMT station in the afternoon, saved the woman in the nick of time, with hardly a one-inch gap between the train and the woman on track.
As per the railway officials, Prashant Konnur not only just saved the woman but also counselled her along with other woman commuters.
“I saw the woman standing near the track before the train started. I started the train very slow and as soon as the train gained speed, she laid on the track,” he said.
“I applied the emergency brakes. She was already under the engine guard with hardly one inch of distance between the wheel and her,” added Konnur.
He said it was luck and his on-time decision to apply breaks that helped save her life, a second late she would have come under the wheels of the train.
“I then pulled her up and asked her the reason to do so she just said that she slipped off on the track. I accompanied her to the women compartment and asked the other women commuters to counsel her,” added Konnur.
