Water level at Barvi Dam rises to 91% after good rainfall in August first week

With the first week of August receiving good rainfall in catchment areas, the water level in Barvi Dam, which supplies water to Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), has increased to 91% from 78%, which was the level in July last week.

The officials of the dam claimed that if the rainfall continues in the coming days, the dam will get its full storage.

“The water storage level was less till July end. However, since the last three days, there has been heavy downpour and the storage has increased. The dam is one of the major sources of water supply to MMR cities,” said an officer at Barvi Dam.

As per the officials, a total of 309.40MLD of water storage is available in the dam. The dam is a major source of water to Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Kalyan-Dombivli, Ulhasnagar and Ambernath besides several villages.
