Dashing Kolkata Knight Riders opener Chris Lynn had suffered an injury after just two games in the 2017 Indian Premier League. But his return to training has come as a huge boost to the Kolkata franchise, who lost to Rising Pune Supergiant on Wednesday.

There’s some good news for Kolkata Knights Riders and the Australian cricket team, as explosive batsman Chris Lynn returned to training on Tuesday and he might regain match fitness to play the last couple of games for the two-time champions in IPL 2017.

Chris Lynn had played just two games for Kolkata Knight Riders — he scored an unbeaten 93 against Gujarat Lions and 32 against Mumbai Indians — this season before injuring himself during the second match. Jos Buttler had mistimed a shot and Lynn, running in from mid-off, dived to go for the catch. Although he didn’t get anywhere close with the dive, he hurt his shoulder in the process and left the field immediately.

It is a crucial time for KKR as they have lost their two previous games. They still remain in the second spot in the points table.

However, he seems to be in good nick now as he returned to training on Tuesday although his shoulder was heavily taped. “The shoulder is slowly getting there. I had a cortisone injection the other day and it worked really well,” Lynn was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

In the absence of Lynn, Gambhir had to open the batting with Sunil Narine and Colin de Grandhomme. It will be interesting to see if KKR fall back on the explosive Lynn-Gambhir combination or continue with Narine and Grandhomme.

KKR are in the second spot with 14 points from 11 matches despite losing their previous two matches. On Wednesday, KKR lost to Rising Pune Supergiant by six wickets.
