Kamaljeet Rajpal, chief executive officer of the Cricket Club of India, shot himself in the head with a revolver at his Cuffe Parade residence on Friday evening. Rajpal was recently accused of sending an obscene e-mail to a woman employee of the club.
The police got a call from Rajpal’s son informing them that the family had heard a gunshot from his bedroom.
“At around 6.30 pm, while Rajpal was in the drawing room with his family, he suddenly stood up and went into his bedroom. The family heard a gunshot and rushed to the bedroom where they found him on the floor. His licensed revolver was lying by his side,” said a police official.
Senior Police Inspector D Vanjari said Rajpal was rushed to Bombay Hospital, where he is in the intensive care unit.
The police’s cyber cell had on April 28 registered a first information report against Rajpal and seized the computer from which he allegedly sent the obscene mail.
