'ICC happy with Champions Trophy arrangements'
The four member security delegation of the ICC that visited Pakistan to inspect arrangements for the Champions Trophy is satisfied with the security situation in the country, says the PCB.
The four member security delegation of the International Cricket Council that recently visited Pakistan to inspect arrangements for the Champions Trophy is satisfied with the security situation in the country, the PCB said on Saturday.
PCB Chairman Nasim Ashraf said the delegation that included two security experts were satisfied with the arrangements for the mega tournament.
"We will have the tournament in Pakistan as planned from September 11 as the delegation gave positive feedback and the ICC and the PCB will work together to have a top level security plan for the event," Ashraf said.
Ashraf also confirmed that the ICC had allowed the board to have special playing conditions for the Champions Trophy because it is being held during the holy month of Ramazan.
"We had spoken to the ICC about this issue and have told them it would be best to start the day and night matches a bit late and give a hour break for the people to break fast and say their prayers," the PCB chief said.
Normally day and night matches in Pakistan start around 1100 hrs or 1400 hrs and breaks between matches are for 40 to 45 minutes.
Ashraf said it had also been agreed that due to the sanctity of Ramazan all teams will take drink breaks in proper covered areas.
He said the board was coordinating with the authorities to ensure smooth and quick processing of visas and other travel documents for foreigners wishing to watch the tournament.
The Board has also invited the heads and chief executives of ICC and its member boards during the Asia Cup final to be held on July 6 in Karachi.
