The International Cricket Council confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the World Cup has approved England’s Chris Tremlett as a replacement player for the injured Stuart Broad, who is suffering from a side strain.
Tremlett, who has been travelling with the squad as a stand-by player, was the obvious choice to replace Broad. He is the second replacement player England in the past two days, with Eoin Morgan replacing an injured Kevin Pietersen.
Watson plays it safe
Having seen his career plagued by one injury after another, Australian cricketer Shane Watson has decided not to over exert himself to keep injuries at bay ahead of their match against Kenya. “I am very conscious. I just do enough to make sure I’m in a decent place going into the game, but in the end making sure I’m fresh going into the game rather than over training,” said Watson.
