The Indian cricket team was back to the practice nets on Tuesday and leading the charge was skipper Virat Kohli ahead of the second Test at Lord’s starting Thursday.

The second Test between India and England begins from Thursday and the stakes could not be higher for the Virat Kohli-led side.

The visitors were defeated by 31 runs in the first Test match at Edgbaston and a loss at the ‘home of cricket’ Lord’s will be a huge blow to their hopes of winning their second-ever Test series on English soil.

The Indian cricket team was back to the practice nets on Tuesday and leading the charge was none other than skipper Virat Kohli, who scored 149 and 51 in the first and second innings of the first Test, respectively.

Ahead of the second Test, Kohli was seen practising his shots in a short video posted by the official handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The eighteen second long video was posted on Twitter with the caption: “#TeamIndia Captain @imVkohli gearing up for the 2nd Test match at @HomeOfCricket. #ENGvIND.”

Virat Kohli exorcised his demons as he slammed a brilliant 149 in the first innings at Edgbaston. During the 2014 Test series in England, Kohli failed to fire for his team but it was a completely different story in the first Test.

While most of the other top order batsmen struggled against the disciplined bowling attack, Kohli continued to play exquisite shots and his century was a huge boost for the visiting side.

Thanks to the impressive performance, Kohli leapfrogged Australia’s Steve Smith to become the No.1 ranked Test batsman in the world.

Kohli ended Steve Smith’s 32-month reign as the top-ranked batsman and in the process, became the seventh Indian and first since Sachin Tendulkar (2011) to achieve this milestone.
