Kagiso Rabada speaks on DC’s innings

Kagiso Rabada: I am more satisfied what we did today as a bowling unit. We have had four games we have lost a little bit as a team. We have done the hard work up until now and hopefully we can finish the game off. I don’t think we did a lot wrong, I don’t know. We just came out with a good intent. You come out and try to bowl in good areas from the analysis that you have done and trusting your strengths and what has worked for you in the past - the by product is not in your control. Today we did what we have done from the beginning of the tournament. Same mindset that’s it. We did squeeze them, we didn’t give away easy boundaries right through the innings, we bowled really well and with that said there’s no pressure on our batters. They are top quality batters and they will know what to do. I was actually feeling the grass and it was a bit wet in the beginning, I am not sure if it has picked up. This tournament has been full of surprises, one game there’s dew and one game there’s not maybe it is going to build up but I am not sure.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli at toss

RCB captain Virat Kohli: “We have a couple of changes. Gurkeerat Mann misses out, Dube comes in to provide some fire power in the middle. Shahbaz Ahmed comes in for Saini. His webbing is still not right and he was struggling in the field. It is simple you try and win every game of cricket you play. The conversation never changes and you don’t take any game lightly. But this being a crunch game not a bad thing to be batting first and putting runs on the board, we would have liked to bowl as well. Pressure in big games can be a funny thing. Whatever total you get the other team has to chase it. We have to play good cricket, consistently we have done well, we have had a few bad games which is acceptable and in a tournament like this it is competitive, but we still have good spirits as a side and looking forward to this encounter today. We have been in this situation before, the three finals we played before we probably had to go through like this in all those editions. The mindset was simple win the game, move ahead and you don’t think of other possibilities. It is basically how you play on the day, the result pans out in a certain manner, and if you have not played well then you don’t deserve to be in a situation where you expect other teams to do something else. It is all up to the two teams today and how they executed their plans.”

19:03 hrs IST

Delhi Capitals Shreyas Iyer speaks at toss

DC captain Shreyas Iyer: “We will bowl first. Dew is going to play a massive role. Looking at the previous games the surface was a belter. This track is also looking amazing to bat on. So chasing we would be having a certain total in our mind and we would be having a clear idea on the run rate as well - considering those factors we decided to bowl. We have three changes - Rahane, Axar and Sams come in. It’s a complicated situation to be in but IPL is such an amazing tournament to be in, it can surprise you any moment, I personally feel this is a great opportunity for us to get into second place. We will keep those things in mind and go in with that mindset.”

Pitch Report

Danny Morrison and JP Duminy: “We have gorgeous conditions for this crunch encounter. The sun is out, no cloud and the breeze is in. Batters will want to go to the 62 meter boundary, down the ground is 79 and the other side is 74 meters. This is the fourth game on this surface. Delhi have relied on their pace attack in particular Rabada and Nortje whilst RCB relied on their leg spinner Chahal, when it comes to batting here they will be aware of the threats and go about accordingly. Good even covering of grass. Tough encounter and pressure is the situation.”
