Take a bow, this was some comeback by KXIP. Curran, Shami have combined as Delhi lost 7 wickets for 8 runs in 17 deliveries as they have capitulated to hand KXIP an unlikely win. Delhi are stunned, they have all the reasons to be aggrieved, this was their match to lose and they have lost it

Shami smashes the stumps

It was a length ball, Vihari swung across the line, head falls back, and the ball smashes the stumps. Wow, Delhi have melted away, KXIP have made a dramatic comeback

Curran, magic

Length ball angled away, Harshal Patel swings for the hills and ends up nicking it behind. Delhi have absolutely lost their head in this chase. KXIP have swung the game back to their corner

Curran gets rid of Ingram

What is happening? Delhi are melting in Mohali, Ingram slaps a full ball straight down long off’s throat. Delhi are stumbling here, Mohali finds its voice. KXIP are fighting back, this game is certainly not over

Morris is run out

Wow, is there a late twist in this tale? Morris taps one length ball to mid off and takes off for a quick single. Ashwin collects the ball and smashes down the stumps at the non-striker’s end and Morris is miles out of his crease. KXIP needed this, can they upset this cart?

6 and out

A swipe over deep mid-wicket fetches Pant a 6, and then Shami follows it up with a full ball, which sneaks past another swipe and the stumps are disturbed

Final 4 overs remain

Delhi Capitals need 30 runs in 24 balls. Ashwin has to look for wickets and he brought on Mohammed Shami to do just that. Few wickets is only what can bring KXIP back into this contest

Chase becoming easier

Ingram has picked Mujeeb rather well and has bossed proceedings here. And Rishabh Pant is quietly going about his business. Delhi are well on their way and KXIP need wickets

Ingram survives

Viljoen with that angle traps Ingram bang in front, gets the umpire’s nod, but well, the decision has to be overturned as the ball was pitching well outside the leg stump. Another pivotal moment in this chase, Ingram has looked fluent so far in his innings

Ingram gets going

Back after the exile, Colin Ingram has been good for Delhi Capitals in this season so far. He, along with Rishabh Pant, holds the key for Delhi in this chase. KXIP have to keep chipping away with wickets

Ashwin traps Dhawan

The carrom ball, the left-hander is on the backfoot as he looks to cut the ball away, but is hit on the pads and the umpire sends him back. He asks Pant for advice, but that looked dead and Ashwin is over the moon. Big moment in this match

Viljoen strikes

Iyer was striking the ball beautifully, but has now been castled by Hardus Viljoen. Iyer stands still and pokes his bat at a length ball, inside edge taken and the ball crashes into the stumps. KXIP needed this wicket and Viljoen is pumped up! He exults

Importance of Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan's run rate in this year's IPL is 7.17. Only once in the last four IPL seasons has he finished with an overall run rate below 7.40. He is attacking more than ever (64%), but that aggression has not yet translated into a quicker run rate. #IPL

Dhawan has to fire

He has step up and get things rolling here. The track looks good and the outfield is fast, and Dhawan will have fond memories of this ground. Remember the 187 he got on debut against Australia?

Ashwin strikes

Wow, what a start. Ashwin gets the ball to drift away, the ball snakes past the outside edge of the bat, nicks it behind and Rahul takes the catch. This is just what KXIP would have wanted, Prithvi has to depart

Back with the chase

Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw are out there. R Ashwin has the new ball, he has to pick up early wickets as this pitch will only get better under lights.

Mandeep’s final flourish

It was an innings which was meandering along until Sarfaraz and Miller took control in the middle innings. However, both Sarfaraz and Miller fell in the final overs and KXIP ceded all the momentum to DC. Mandeep biffed 10 in the final 2 balls to take KXIP to 166/9, which Miller concedes could be on the lighter side

M Ashwin has to depart

Another length ball, Ashwin tries to swing it away, takes the outside edge and the ball goes up miles in the air, there is confusion as Avesh and Pant both call, but Avesh takes the catch and then fumes at Pant

Ashwin bowled

Fast full toss, Ashwin wanted to scythe that away, misses the ball and the ball smashes the stumps. Delhi continue to take wickets in the final overs as KXIP lose all momentum

Viljoen departs

Fast length ball, which climbs more than expected. Viljoen looks to do something with it, manages to balloon it to cover where Chris Morris takes an easy catch. KXIP are losing ground here

Miller has to depart

Not the right time, David. He sets himself in the crease, looks to hoick the full ball away over deep mid-wicket. However, Morris rolls his fingers over the ball, and this defeats Miller’s attempted stroke, the ball goes up miles in the air, Rishabh Pant settles down under it and takes the catch

Miller on the move

43 off 29 balls so far for David Miller, he holds the key for Punjab as they aim for one final flourish and push the score over 180. The pitch is a good one, the outfield is fast, so 180 is an absolute must

Lamichhane strikes

Good bowling from the young leggie, landing the ball on a length and getting it to spin away just a touch, Sarfaraz has a lazy waft at it and ends up edging it to Rishabh Pant who holds on to it. Very timely wicket for Delhi, KXIP were looking threatening

Miller looking good

This partnership is looking very promising for KXIP. Miller is looking confident and Sarfaraz has looked fluent all innings. It could be a tricky period for DC, they need to break this partnership

Sarfaraz looking good

The young man has been impressive this season and is bringing his form to good use today. Few elegant orthodox strokes and then a dinky little scoop over keeper. He needs to carry this form right through the innings

Mayank is run out

Well, what happened there? Sarfaraz drives a length ball towards Shikhar Dhawan at short extra cover. Mayank was backing up, slips as he attempts to turn back, but Dhawan knocks down the stumps at the non-striker’s end. DC get another timely break

Sam departs

Well, Sandeep has the final laugh. Fires a flat ball on the stumps, Curran is on the backfoot, looks to clip the ball away, misses it altogether and is trapped right in front of the stumps. Another blow for KXIP, Curran was looking good as the opener

KL departs

Great comeback by Morris, he has angled on full, Rahul wants to flick it away, misses it and the ball crashes into the pads. Umpire says out, he refers, hawkeye says umpire’s call. Rahul has to walk back and DC get a huge first scalp

KL on the move

Rahul has got going, two clips off the hips and the ball scoots across this rapid outfield. And then he is quick to rock back, swivel and pull one short ball clean over fine leg

Shreyas Iyer leads his side out on the field, KL Rahul and Sam Curran are already out there. Mohali is buzzing, Pant already has something to say to KL Rahul with a wry grin on his face. Rabada will run in with the new nut

It’s about getting used to a particular ground, like the wind direction etc. If you’ve played in a venue before you know that the small things matter big. We have punched well as a unit, and I’m pretty pleased with how it is going at the moment. If you go at 10 an over in the slog (last 4 overs), you would take it any day as a captain.

Toss update

Shreyas Iyer wins the toss and Delhi Capitals will bowl first. Avesh Khan replaces Amit Mishra.

Iyer: The game (super over) went too far that night, but the guys are very excited after winning that game. We are going to bowl first. It was a good wicket to bat on, and the boys are energetic. Avesh Khan comes in for Amit Mishra. Rabada being the leader of the attack, and bowling that super over was fantastic. Sandeep Lamichhanne was amazing last time, bowling two powerplay overs for us as well.

Pitch report

The pitch has been a good one. Sprinkling of live grass, which will assist some pace. There is a disparity in the boundary sizes - and that’ll work in the favour of Chris Gayle. They’ve got to bowl short at him. The Capitals have Rabada, one of the quickest - they have to make Gayle hit Rabada into the bigger side and into the wind. Mix of the short one and the yorker. Sayan - Well, KXIP also have Rahul and Mayank

The Karnataka duo has been in superb form this season. Rahul won the match against Mumbai Indians and Mayank has been mighty impressive all year. Mayank Agarwal has had the brilliant start to this edition of IPL. His scores in first three match of this IPL are — 22, 58 & 43. He is having the best average and strike-rate this season as compared to previous editions.

Manish - DC’s Chris can overpower KXIP’s Chris

For all his belligerence at the top of the order, Chris Gayle has found it difficult to get going against Chris Morris.

So far, Morris has bowled 34 deliveries to Gayle and the Windies hard-hitter has managed to hit just 40 runs off him. But more importantly, Morris has gotten rid of Gayle three times in the IPL before.

Sayan - KXIP can counter Pant

Ashwin could play Mujeeb in this particular match as his record against Pant has been fantastic. He has bowled three balls to him and has already claimed his wicket twice.

Also, Ashwin has controlled the exuberance of Pant. The skipper has only given away 7 runs in the 11 balls bowled to Pant so far. So, spin could be the way forward for KXIP

Manish - The Rishabh Pant force

He has been consistent in the three games so far and the team management can bump him up the order against Kings XI Punjab to take control during the powerplay overs. The young wicket-keeper will be the X-factor for Delhi this match.

Sayan - Match is in Mohali, so what about it?

Kings XI Punjab have won 4 out of their last 5 matches against Delhi in IPL. Also, Delhi Capitals have won only once against KXIP at Mohali in IPL. Well, so all the momentum will be deflated today!

Manish - Opening salvo

Delhi Capitals edged out KKR in an absolute thriller and after such a win, the team has all the momentum in their favour. They have found a great balance and their young batsmen and experienced bowlers could well be too hot for KXIP to handle

Hello and welcome

We are already looking at match number 13 in this year’s IPL. Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals look to have found a settled squad, they seem to have all the bases covered and have played three games each winning two and it’s a good opportunity for both the sides to build on this momentum and rise in the points table.

Before the start of the match, we will preview this contest for you where I (Manish Pathak- cricket correspondent) and Sayan Ghosh (cricket correspondent) will put forward our respective cases for two teams playing today. I will present the case for DC while my colleague will put forward his stat based counters as to why he thinks KXIP will walk away with the match in their bag.
