Day 2: New Zealand were dismissed for 375 runs after a century partnership between BJ Watling and Daryl Mitchell on the second day at Seddon Park in Hamilton. The Kiwis took a 336-run lead in a match that England needs to win in order to level the two-match series. But pacers Tim Southee and Matt Henry removed both England openers as New Zealand reduced the tourists to 39-2 as the chances of making a comeback into the match looks for bleak for the visitors.
