PCB Chairman Nasim Ashraf said that in order to make their Twenty20 tournament thrive in the long run, the ICL must hold talks with the world body.

"They must find a solution with the ICC if they want their league to work and survive. Even the Indian Premier League was only launched properly after the BCCI first discussed and worked out things with the ICC and member boards," Ashraf told PTI.

The PCB chief said ICL would remain a pariah if they try to lure players while bypassing ICC and its member countries.

"That is not the way things work in international cricket. Anyone who wants to do something for the betterment of cricket must do it through the ICC and sign players after getting clearance from their respective boards. We cannot allow just anyone to start organising a tournament and approach players directly," Ashraf said.

Ashraf said Pakistan would be willing to review its stance on the ICL if they cleared up matters with the ICC.

"We have nothing personal against them but we are part of the cricket family and we go by the standard decisions. That is, we have allowed our players to take part in the officially sanctioned IPL and are supporting it."

Ashraf said the fundamental difference between both the Indian leagues was that while the ICL had initially kept their engagements at par with national duties of the players and retained authority to have the final say, the IPL had agreed that national duty would come first for any cricketer.

Ashraf said the 16 Pakistani players who aligned with the ICL had no future in the national side.

"If you look at most of the players signed on they did not have a future with the national team and were at the fag end of their careers.

"As far as Imran Farhat and Abdul Razzaq are concerned, I tried to tell them they still had a Pakistan career left but they opted for money and that is fine with us. But we will not be changing our stance on the ICL at all," he said.
