Narine hit his first boundary in the fourth over, smacking a length delivery from Ashwin over long-on for a maximum. The KXIP captain had stepped in for Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who, in the same over, had to leave the field after being hit hard on his bowling hand by Narine. The 17-year-old from Afghanistan attempted a return catch but in process, ended up hurting himself.
In the next over, Narine smashed Barinder Sran for two boundaries; one was a top edge towards third-man boundary while the second was lifted over the fielder at mid-on.
He continued to attack, hammering Axar Patel for a maximum over long-on. Narine reached the landmark with a single off Axar Patel towards deep mid-wicket.
He kept going after his fifty and his innings finally came to an end when he was caught behind off the bowling of Andrew Tye after scoring 75 off 36 balls.
