Talking to the media on the sidelines of Pakistan team's practice session ahead of their match against Bangladesh tomorrow, Tanvir said, "Everybody is confident and all of us are keen to keep up the rhythm of having won 11 matches in a row. I think we will do well in this tournament."

On their match against Bangladesh tomorrow, the 23-year-old felt though the minnows would have the home advantage, his team had a strong edge over them.

"We have an edge over Bangladesh. Of course, Bangladesh have the advantage of the home ground and home support. It will be a good and tough competition," he said.

Tanvir said despite his meteoric international rise, he still remains a student of the game.

"I recently started playing for the country. At least now, I am seeing the success in some ways. It is a big responsibility. I am improving day by day," he said.

Asked whether the absence of seniors in the Indian team gives a slight advantage to Pakistan, Tanvir said, "(Sourav) Ganguly, (Rahul) Dravid and Sachin (Tendulkar) are great players. But the youngsters have achieved success in Australia. Youngsters also need to be given chances and every country has its own long term policy."
