Fresh details have emerged regarding the shocking demise of Australia cricket legend Shane Warne, who died aged 52 on Friday in Thailand. Warne was found unresponsive by his friends in the villa he was staying at in Koh Samui. His management later released a statement saying that he passed away of a suspected heart attack.
Thai Police revealed on Saturday that the former Australia cricketer had experienced chest pains before his death before adding that he had a medical history of asthma and heart issues.
Yuttana Sirisombat, superintendent at the Bo Phut police station on Koh Samui said, "Warne had seen doctors regarding a heart condition prior to his death" and that "no drug substance was detected in his body."
However, a report according to The Bangkok Post revealed that blood stains were found on the floor of the room where Warne was staying and on the bath towels and pillows.
Pol Maj Gen Satit Polpinit, commander of Surat Thani Provincial Police, told Thai newspaper Matichon the cricketer had “coughed up liquid and was bleeding” when CPR began.
Earlier it was reported that Warne's four friends are tried for 20 minutes to resuscitate him before he was taken to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“Shane was having three months off and this was the start of it,” Warne’s manager James Erskine told Fox Cricket.
“They had only arrived the night before.
“They were going to go out for a drink at 5 o’clock, and (Neophitou) knocked on his door at 5.15pm because Warnie was always on time and said “come on you’re going to be late” and then realised something was wrong.”
Warne’s body will be taken to Surat Thani on the mainland on Sunday for an autopsy.
