“The people are fed up with the 10-year misrule of the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and are looking to our party for a political change,” said BJP national secretary Trivendra Singh Rawat here on Saturday.

He alleged that the Congress government’s misrule in Uttarakhand and the factionalism within that party had pushed the state to the brink of a political instability.

“It (Congress) may have brought in a new chief minister (Harish Rawat), but there had been no change in the issues and problems facing the state,” Rawat said.

He said the reconstruction and rehabilitation issues had not been addressed even eight months after the flash floods. “The people in this state can’t be taken for a ride…They are a mature people…The results of the Lok Sabha polls will prove that,” Rawat said.

There was a clear swing of public opinion towards the BJP at the national level as well due to the anti-Congress sentiment.

“The opinion polls have already predicted the BJP win in as many as 240 Lok Sabha seats…We have, however, set a target of 272 (LS) seats for ourselves,” Rawat said claiming that the people were optimistic that the BJP prime ministerial candidate would bring about a much awaited turnaround in the country once he took over the country after the LS polls.

“The country is producing 18.5 lakh skilled laboures annually, but most of them are without jobs…They are also hoping that once Modiji takes over as PM, industries will be set up and there will be jobs for them,” Rawat said.
