According to the police, the Shalimar Bagh police station received a call about two men shooting a man following a heated argument.
A 23-year-old man was shot at for refusing to share a cigarette with two men in northwest Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh late on Wednesday night. The man is under treatment and the police are trying to trace the two accused persons.
According to the police, the Shalimar Bagh police station received a call about two men shooting a man following a heated argument.
When the police reached the spot, the injured man, Amir Khan, who had sustained a gunshot injury, had been taken to a hospital.
“Doctors said the man had been shot on the right side of his chest. In his statement, Khan told the police that he and his friend Paras Arora were standing near a shopping mall around 9.30 pm when two unidentified men came on a bike and asked him for a cigarette. When Khan refused, the two men used foul language, which sparked an argument,” said a police officer who is not authorised to speak to media.
Khan said one of the bikers then took a pistol and fired a gunshot. Police said Khan is out of danger.
Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Vijayanta Arya said they had registered a case of attempt to murder and efforts to identify the two assailants were underway.
“CCTV footages are being checked to trace the bike the two men were using. Locals and Khan’s friend are also being questioned,” she said.
