Roshan (name changed) was arrested and later granted bail. “My friend told me that if I go abroad, I would be able to make lots of money. So I thought about flying abroad by clinging to one of the tyres of the aircraft,” Roshan reportedly told the police.

Roshan lives in Palam Vihar. He sneaked inside the airport by scaling the wall near the Air India building around 8 pm on Saturday. He got bruised on the back while scaling the wall that was covered with barbed wires. He kept roaming on the runway hiding behind bushes and other buildings, for the fear of being caught.

Around 12.30 a.m. on Sunday, Roshan spotted an aircraft parked on the tarmac and hid himself behind the rear wheels of Spicejet flight-767. Around 4.30 a.m., Sandeep Verma, an executive engineer working with the airlines, noticed someone behind the wheels and was shocked to find Roshan. He informed the security officials and Roshan was handed over to the police.

“The boy told us that he is an orphan and that his parents died some months ago. His landlord had thrown him out and he wanted to make money by going abroad. When we grilled him, he broke down and gave out the details of his father who lives in Palam Vihar. We informed him and he came to the police station,” said a senior police officer.

Roshan’s father Rishi Raj works as a mason and he told the police that his son had fled from the house after being scolded on Saturday evening.

A case under section 447 (criminal trespass) of the IPC has been registered at Palam police station. “A joint team of the CISF and Delhi Police interrogated him. He has some family problems. The wall from where he sneaked in is being guarded by private security guards and not the CISF,” said Udayan Banerjee, senior commandant, CISF.
