Boards helpline gets 865 calls in 24 hrs

A distressed Class 12 student suffering from examination anxiety was mulling suicide but a smart intervention from the Hum Se Poocho, the Board examination helpline started by Hindustan Times, helped avert it.
The team was able to identify the school from which the student hailed and informed the school authorities immediately who in turn took proactive steps to reach the child and ensure he was taken care of immediately.
Hum Se Poocho, has received an overwhelming response since its launch on February 28. The helpline was opened before the Class 12 physics paper at 9.30am on February 28, and closed at 9.30am on March 1.
A total of 865 calls were received among which 179 were repeat calls.
The lines are being manned constantly and apart from the entire national capital region, the team also received calls from Meerut, Bulandshahar, Chandigarh and Varanasi. Volunteer teachers from various schools, faculty from Study Mate, the coaching centre of Hindustan Times, and psychologist helped answer students' queries and problems.
The Humse Poocho helpline - 011-66561800 - will open again on March 6 from 9.30am for the Class 12 just before the chemistry paper on March 7.
